Upholstery Cleaning: A Professional Service That's Local to You
Why choose our professional upholstery cleaning service?
At Diamond, we have individual teams of fully trained and certified technicians who specialise only in cleaning upholstery.
They train along a senior fabric cleaner for at least three years before being able to work on their own.
This alone means that when you book with us, you will get an experienced person who knows how to treat, deep clean and further protect the fabric of your upholstery items.
We deep clean anything from sofas (all types of fabrics) to footstools, armchairs, tubchairs and any upholstered item you may want us to.
Furthermore, our in-house deep clean, disinfection and fabric protection training programs ensures that through our cleaning process, your items will be cleaned to the latest standards in the British industry: there is no other programme anywhere more effective and thorough than ours own.
Lastly, our upholstery cleaners are local and close to your home or office: they do not travel more than ten miles from the area where they live in.
This reduces the travel time, impact on the CO2 footprint, and it ensures that our team will show up on time to your address, even sameday.
What is included in the pro cleaning package for upholstery items?
All our professional cleaning packages for upholstery were designed to cover all types of items and fabrics anywhere in homes and offices.
This starts with the first step which is identifying the fabric type of your item: send us photos or arrange a booking with us. One of our team members willl assess and identify the item's fabric type: this gives us an indication of which methods, machines, equipment and chemicals to use in the deep cleaning process.
Step two involves a standard pH test and a colour bleeding or fastness done on a small area of your upholstery.
Based on the results from our tests, our technician will proceed in hoovering, treating stains and marks on the fabric, deep cleaning, sanitising and deodorising the fabric.
An additional step involves further protecting the fabric of the upholstery with one or more stain protection products.
All our products are children, pet and environment friendly: all the products we use on any given item get rinsed out or immediately extracted during the cleaning process.

How do you professionally clean upholstery?
We deep clean and professionally revive your upholstery based on its fabric type.
For example, suede and nubuck are dry cleaned by hand. Viscose, rayon and some silk variants, too, are cleaned by hand with a specialised set of tools and products.
Wool, velvet and some silk, rayon and viscose types are cleaned with low water pressure during a cold wash with a specialist upholstery cleaning machine and tool.
Lastly, synthetic, artificial and cotton fabrics are cleaned with deep steam, hot water extraction machines, chemicals and tools.
Extra steps involve anti-wicking on cotton items and fabric carding and brushing by hand with a specific set of tools.
There is no service more thorough than our upholstery cleaning package.
How often should I have upholstery cleaned by a professional?
Some upholstery items (sofas, armchairs and tubchairs, in particular) need to be professionally cleaned at least once a year. If they are prone to everyday, intensive use, they should be cleaned at least twice a year.
Mattresses should be deep cleaned and fully disinfected at least once a year. Depending on the condition of their fabric and on their stains (if any), they either have to be replaced (if they are in a really bad state) or thoroughly cleaned by a professional once every year.
Some upholstery items which have a sentimental value, are expensive or have a sensitive fabric (such as velvet, rayon or silk) may have to be cleaned by a professional by hand, at least once a year. They also will definitely benefit from a fabric protect service which will extend their lifespan and maintain their value.
If you need help deciding on which cleaning package or fabric protection service you should choose for your upholstery items, do contact us to go thorugh all the options with one of our team members.
We will advise you on all the options available, before you make your decition.

Which upholstery do we clean and the professional methods we use
Deep Cleaning (Steam)
The most effective cleaning method on the market: we only use this on synthetic and cotton upholstery, along with the best chemicals in the business.
We use a separate range of products to prevent wicking and colour bleeding (fastness).
Our technician takes an extra step to ensure that no marks or stains appear on the upholstery from underneath its fabric. This is a trade secret.
Deep Clean (Cold Water)
We use this on wool, viscose (rayon), most of the 17 types of velvet and on other fibres which may bleed colour.
Part of the process is done with a handtool, then by hand with a carding brush.
The outcome of this service, in particular, is what makes all the difference between a professional and an amateur.
Leather, Suede & Dry Cleaning
Natural leather is shampooed and conditioned by hand by our experts. This ensures a thorough, proper clean, done by a professional with a minimum of one year of experience.
Sofas, armchairs or footstools (Ottomans) upholstered in suede, nubuck, some viscose, silk, velvet variants and delicate cotton / vintage fabrics are dry cleaned by hand.
We only assign such bookings to technicians with at least five years of real world experience.
Eco-friendly sofa cleaning products
Sofas (all shapes)
One of the most frequently cleaned upholstery items, sofas are always a challenge. This is because of their fabric type and the stains sometimes hidden underneath it.
We take extra care when deep cleaning such items: it is all done with specialist tools, pH appropriate chemicals and the correct temperate and pressure.
Our professionals pay particular attention to stains which may come from underneath the fabric (such as from an ink-printed label).
We then further help preserve the condition of the sofa by applying a stain protection layer to it.
Footstool (Ottomans)
These are virtually everlasting carpets because they are made of artificial fibres.
Our expert carpet cleaners treat the fibres with eco-friendly chemicals, water and steam up to 120 degrees Celsius and fabric refresh products. They may also apply a stain protection chemical, depending on your wishes.
The most effective cleaning method and the latest equipment in the industry are used on such carpets because they do not shrink or get damaged.
Armchairs & Tubchairs
We know how to clean over 10+ types of natural fibres with specialist chemicals and the right equipment.
If your fitted carpets are made of a natural fibre such as coir, sisal, jute, silk, bamboo and others, our technicians will advise you on all the available cleaning methods available in our inventory.
Although they look fantastic, such carpets are prone to wicking and shrinking if cleaned with water, and dry cleaning is hygienic but not 100% effective.
True Upholstery Cleaning Professionals from Essex and London
Just like rugs, upholstery items are in a category of their own because they are valuable, portable and they are a great longterm investment.
An expensive, smooth looking sofa – upholstered in velvet, for example – will always be a great asset in your home or office.
Looking after it by deep cleaning it, fully disinfecting and refreshing / reviving its fabric is our trade.
Further extending its lifespan through a fabric protect & regular cleaning plan will give you the best possible outcome at the best possible price.
To make things even better, we’ve formed teams of expert upholstery cleaners: they work in areas which are local to you if you live in London or Essex — and will travel as far as 30 miles to your home or office.
This is because a true specialist is very rare: there are a lot of fabrics out there & a huge number of upholstery items (which come in all shapes and sizes).
Having someone who knows how to clean each of them & has at least four years of experience is even rarer: we do have such tradespeople.
The first step we always take is to ask you to send photos to us: we will inspect them, determine the possible types of upholstery fabrics involved, and get back to you.

After booking with us, a firsthand, on-site inspection carried out by our technician(s) will yield the exact type of fabric - and the best method to clean and protect it.
